In the left background Cheshire View cottages. Notice the road is paved with stone setts and the gas lamp on the left.

View across Bollington
View from the footpath beyond the end of Cow Lane. Note, from left, Beeston quarry with Oak Bank mill chimney on hill top; St John’s (Anglican) church; the roof top and chimneys of Oak Bank House on the hillside among the trees; bottom left, the cottage that stood where the entrance to Tullis Russell is today by the river bridge at the end of Church Street; Higher mills at the near end of Church Street; middle right, Lowther Street school, and above and to the right, St Gregory’s (Catholic) church. The Nab is the hill in the background, with quarries on its lower slopes.

Palmerston Street
The building on the left is the Holly Bush Inn as it was before the brewer’s Tudor was applied in the 1930s.

Red Lion fields / brow
Seems to be taken before the Red Lion Inn was built although a piece of land is hedged off in the corner.

Congregational Church
A Saxon postcard postmarked 1913. The picture was taken before 1912 – otherwise one would be able to see the new chimney at Oak Bank mill. Indeed, there is smoke rising from the old chimney up on the hillside.
