Canal looking towards Hurst Lane bridge
Before Highfield Road was built, hay was made in this field across the canal from Blue Sheds farm, at the top of Hawthorn Road.

Bollington from Beeston Brow
The shop in the middle of the picture, on Palmerston Street, is the Co-op. They had another store at Albert Road. Notice too, the undeveloped space beside the Co-op, not filled until a few years later. Notice the little chimney on the hillside, top right, has smoke rising from it. This was the chimney for Clough mill in Ingersley Vale.

High Street with Primitive Methodist church
Dated before 1912 because the Oak Bank mill chimney built in 1912 is not seen. At this time they used the chimney on the hill top and its flue can be seen following the original ground surface line up the hill side. Beeston quarry can be seen below the chimney. The road surface is crushed limestone with three lines of stone setts along each gutter.
