In the foreground is Cow Lane Mill together with its mill pond; the pond is to the left with two buildings to the right, one with roof lights. The road up the middle of the picture is the original Cow Lane, the road we call Cow Lane today is just visible half way up on the right edge of the picture. Close to the point where the old Cow Lane reaches the houses the chimney belonged to Mill Brook Mill, Rainow.

This is one of the oldest pictures in our collection, dating from the 1860s.
