Far right Harry Pleeth, a Londoner who moved to Bollington during WWII, and who became very prominent in the development of the local scout movement, devoting much of his life to them, he died aged 97, still engaged in public activities. His son John Pleeth was for many years a magistrate on the Macclesfield bench. -

Marion Goodwin crowned Rose Queen
Marion Goodwin being crowned Bollington parish church sunday school queen at a garden fete. Mrs Lomas, wife of Councillor A Lomas chairman of the Bollington Urban District Council, performed the ceremony.
