William Bagley was killed at Suvla Bay, Galipoli in 1915. The first soldier from Kerridge to be killed. Mary Bagey, nee Davis, was born in 1893. Joyce Bagley was 9 months old when her father was killed.
Both from Kerridge they were married in 1914. Before the war William worked in the paper mill and Mary had worked as a weaver from the age of 14 at Lowerhouse Mill.
Bill’s friend Alfred Gaskell brought home Bill’s watch and effects and married his wife. Arthur was Bill’s sergeant.
