Ellen Stubbs
Ellen Stubbs was the daughter of Henshaw Stubbs of Sowcar Farm. She used to help her brother James Stubbs in his butcher’s shop in Palmerston Street, located on the corner with Hamson Drive. The shop was later used by Kirkhams (Kirks?) to sell their coal, and later still it was converted to a domestic residence.
Ellen married Daniel (Dan) Pickford and lived at 45A Ingersley Road.
