One of a series. This view is taken from Beehive bridge 28 looking north towards Adelphi Mill. After the breach the canal was stanked at this point and refilled with water. Fill was brought by boat to here and off-loaded into tramway trucks (bottom right) to be carried to the breach. In the group of boats in the background that in the front left appears to be the directors' inspection boat with its clearstory roof. The townspeople have turned out in large numbers in their Sunday best to see what they can of this unusual incident.
