Hollin Hall Children’s Convalescent Home
The X on one window is referred to in the text on the back of this card as the room in which the sender stayed (see picture 164-06). The building has been significantly enlarged during the late 20th and early 21st centuries and is an hotel.

Congregational Church
A Saxon postcard postmarked 1913. The picture was taken before 1912 – otherwise one would be able to see the new chimney at Oak Bank mill. Indeed, there is smoke rising from the old chimney up on the hillside.

Cock & Pheasant Inn
The roadway outside the Cock & Pheasant when there was road building work in progress – note the piles of limestone.
-

Ingersley Road
The building on the right is the Turners Arms Inn. The horse is standing outside the Cotton Tree Inn.

Brick at Sowcar Farm
Brick inscribed G.L. Shrigley – presumed to be the maker. Shrigley may refer to Pott Shrigley in which case it could be from Hammond’s brick yard at Pott Shrigley.
