This store was opened in 1903 by the Macclesfield Equitable Provident Society. -

Bollington from Beeston Brow
The shop in the middle of the picture, on Palmerston Street, is the Co-op. They had another store at Albert Road. Notice too, the undeveloped space beside the Co-op, not filled until a few years later. Notice the little chimney on the hillside, top right, has smoke rising from it. This was the chimney for Clough mill in Ingersley Vale.

Part of the Waggon and Horses hotel visible on the extreme left. On the right, at the corner of Albert Road, is part of a unit of three shops built by the Macclesfield Equitable Provident Society in 1903 and demolished about seventy years later.
